Allen Sabinson Named Dean of Westphal College
Allen Sabinson, pictured left, was appointed dean of the Antoinette Westphal College of Media Arts & Design after a national search. The announcement was made by Provost Stephen W. Director. Dr. David Raizman had served as Westphal College’s interim dean since September 2004.
Sabinson joined Drexel in January 2004 as the director of the Kal and Lucille Rudman Institute for Entertainment Industry Studies. Prior to joining Drexel, he spent 30 years working in high-level executive positions in programming and production at Miramax, A&E, ABC, TNT, NBC and Showtime. He has commissioned hundreds of movies, television series, documentaries and reality series. Among the productions he’s been responsible for are the Emmy Award-winning Horatio Hornblower films, Sidney Lumet’s 100 Centre Street, It’s Garry Shandling’s Show, Stephen King’s It and the Emmy Award-winning miniseries Separate But Equal and The Old Testament.
Student Fashion Designers Find Victory in Paris
The Concours International des Jeunes Createurs de Mode "Young Designers Fashion Competition", sponsored by the Arts of Fashion Foundation was held in December at the Louvre in Paris. More than 150 entrants from 17 countries participated in the competition. Megan Stein, a fashion design graduate student, took home the grand prize, making her the first American to do so. In addition to Stein, Drexel was represented by students Ann Burton, Mia Murphy, Jung Soo Lee, and Lisa Hutchison. This was the12th time in 15 years that Drexel students represented the U.S. in this international competition.
Renovated Handschumacher Dining Hall Re-Opens
Drexelink - The Sodexho Campus Dining facility underwent a $3.7 million renovation. The new dining room features a restaurant-quality atmosphere, new furniture, finishes, and contemporary lighting. Other additions to the Dining Center include a dessert and coffee station, an exhibition station and a private reservable dining area.

LeBow Announces Opening of The Center for Corporate Governance
Drexel University's LeBow College of Business is once again at the forefront of preparing leaders to better govern companies with the launch of it's Center for Corporate Governance. The Center, headed by Dr. Ralph Walkling, pictured left, the first holder of the Stratakis Chair in Corporate Governance and Accountability, will promote corporate governance research and awareness to educate and mentor executives and future business leaders through forums, workshops, panel discussions and invited presentations. Public Safety to Use DragonForce Security Device
The department of public safety has deployed DragonForce™—a wireless information-exchange platform. The device looks like a PDA, pictured left, and gives police, fire, emergency medical teams and other first responders the ability to command, communicate and adapt tactical plans in routine or emergency situations securely and without disruption. The DragonForce™ technology, founded in 2004 by Drexel researchers, Drs. Moshe Kam, Robert G. Quinn Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering and William Regli, associate professor of computer science and mechanical engineering and mechanics. More.

Alumni Meet King Tut on Tour
Take a step back into ancient Egypt to experience history like it has never been seen before-through the eyes of King Tut. The nationally reviewed Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs exhibit will be traveling to four cities during a 27-month U.S. tour. Take part in this adventure on Sunday, February 12 in Fort Lauderdale. Mingle with alumni after the exhibit at an alumni brunch buffet "fit for a king" at the Fort Lauderdale River House. Alumni Day with the Philadelphia Soul
Join alumni and their families on Sunday, February 26, as we head to the Wachovia Center to experience Arena Football at its best.
