Main Campus Commencement Honorary Degree Recipients
The Main Campus celebrated its 119th Commencement with four ceremonies on Saturday, June 17. This year's honorary degree recipients were the following: Norman R. Augustine, retired president and chief executive officer of Lockheed Martin and chairman and chief operating officer of the Martin Marietta Corporation; Earle I. Mack '59, former ambassador to Finland and senior partner and chief financial officer of the Mack Company; Sharon Pinkenson (pictured left), executive director of the Greater Philadelphia Film Office and founding producer for the Prince Music Theater’s Film at the Prince-The Sharon Pickenson Film Project; William T. Schleyer '73, former chairman and chief executive officer of Adelphia Communications Corporation, recently acquired by Time Warner and Comcast; and Dr. Paul J. Stonely (pictured left), president of the National Commission for Cooperative Education. More
Drexel Recipient of CIO 100 Award
Drexel University, under the guidance of Vice President for Information Resources and Technology Dr. John A. Bielec (pictured left), has been named as a recipient of the CIO 100 Award. The awards are given out annually by CIO magazine to the nation’s top 100 organizations that have distinguished themselves by creating business value through the effective and innovative use of IT. Other 2006 recipients of CIO 100 include Intel, Dell Inc., and General Motors.
Drexel is widely recognized for its ubiquitous computing environment requiring all students (since 1983) to own a personal computer and was rated by Yahoo! Internet Life Magazine as the number one wireless university in the United States. In 2000, Drexel became the first major university to operate a fully wireless campus. Student Team Wins Third Place in Disney's Imagineering Competition
Students Matthew Fonda, a civil and architectural engineering major, and Kristy Pron, a digital media major, who were among the six finalists in the Walt Disney Imagi-Nations Competition, won third place in the Disney Imagineering competition on June 7, 2006. Their proposed new Disney attraction "East Australian Current Express - Top Sides Tour" featured a ride that would transport families across the park to Epcot's world showcase. Fonda and Pron (pictured left) were chosen from more than 30 entries nationwide, and were each awarded a $1,000 scholarship from Disney Imagineering. More

5th Annual Philadelphia International Dragon Boat Festival
Build teamwork, spirit and pride on Saturday, October 7, while paddling on Drexel’s Dragon Boat Team. The festival will be held from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the Schuylkill River. Join our team and help us win the Collegiate Championship for the third year running. For more information, click here.
College of Medicine's Class of 2010 White Coat Ceremony
Join us at the Hilton Philadelphia City Line Avenue, on Friday, August 11 at 3 p.m., as the Class of 2010 sets off on their journey through medical school. The White Coat Ceremony was established in 1993 by the Arnold P. Gold Foundation at the College of Physicians and Surgeons at Columbia University and is held in the presence of family, friends, faculty, board members, administrators and alumni. During the ceremony the new medical students recite the Hippocratic Oath, which they will recite again when they complete their medical school education. For more information, click here.

NorCal Alumni Night at the Ballpark
Join alumni on Friday, July 14, at AT&T Park to watch the San Francisco Giants take on the Philadelphia Phillies. First pitch will be thrown at 7:15 p.m. Seats are located under the third-base overhang, in Section 128. Catch us before the game at 5:30 p.m. for an alumni tailgate.
