"Tutankhamun and  The Golden Age of the Pharaohs "

DeL Announces New Programs and Partnership
Drexel eLearning, Inc. (DeL) will launch new online healthcare programs this fall offered by the College of Nursing and Health Professions. The announcement was made by DeL President and CEO Arthur Zamkoff. The new programs include an online bachelor’s in health services administration, a master’s in innovation and intra/entrepreneurship in advanced nursing practice and a graduate certificate in innovation and intra/entrepreneurship in advanced nursing practice.

Zamkoff also announced that DeL has partnered with Albany Preparatory Charter School, a tuition-free public middle school in Albany, N.Y., to provide the school’s employees with the opportunity to complete degree or certificate programs through Drexel. Rosato named acting dean of College of Law
On July 17, 2006, Drexel University’s College of Law announced the appointment of Jennifer Rosato (left) as acting dean for the College of Law. Rosato, a nationally recognized legal scholar, possesses a solid background in academic administration with her previous work at Brooklyn Law School as associate dean and co-director of the Center for Health, Science and Public Policy.

Rosato was the first associate dean to be hired last October and has become increasingly involved over the last year with the construction of the new college, taking part in hiring new faculty members, working on the curriculum, and developing new student orientation.

"I'm really looking forward to starting here at Drexel," Rosato said. "The mission of Drexel is what I came here for, and I really hope to have that mission embodied in the law school."

Alumnus Christopher J. Ferguson ’84 to Pilot Next Space Shuttle Mission
Captain Christopher J. Ferguson '84 (left), a 1984 mechanical engineering graduate, will pilot his first space mission; Space Shuttle Atlantis for NASA's STS-115 mission. The launch window for the 11-day mission is Sunday, August 27 - Wednesday, September 13, 2006.

The six-member crew will travel to the International Space Station and install the integrated P3/P4 truss segment with its two large solar arrays that will provide one-fourth of the total power generation capability of the completed station. Captain Ferguson was selected by NASA in 1998 and is stationed at the Johnson Space Center in Houston. This is his first space mission. Captain Ferguson is the third astronaut to graduate from Drexel University. The other two are James Bagian '73 and Paul Richards '87. For more information on the STS-115 mission, click here.

Alumni Help Needed for Law Internships
Experiential education is what has set Drexel apart from other Philadelphia institutions since it was founded. Alumni support in helping identify 2007 summer internships for our new law students is the best way you can help launch the College of Law.

If you or someone you know works at a company with an in-house legal department, please contact us vial email at alumni@drexel.edu with the name of the company and contact information for the head of the legal department. A law school representative will contact the company’s attorney to see if a summer placement for one of our law students would be possible.

College of Medicine Celebration

5th Annual Philadelphia International Dragon Boat Festival
Cheer on fellow alumni and friends as we defend our title as Collegiate Challenge Champions two-years running on Saturday, October 7. Join us in the Drexel tent starting at 8 a.m. to cheer on the Drexel boats with alumni, faculty, and student paddlers as they race for charity.  This is a free event, so come anytime throughout the day and bring your blankets, chairs and picnic baskets. Join alumni and friends on Saturday, October 14, from 6 - 9 p.m. for a stroll through the narrow cobblestone streets of an early 1900's holiday on the grounds of Byers' Choice, Ltd. Alumni International Travel Program
Join Drexel as we head to Budapest and Prague, two cities-one trip! The Alumni Board of Governors is pleased to provide the Drexel alumni community the opportunity to participate in a variety of community service projects during the 2006-07 academic year. The first day of service is scheduled for Saturday, October 21. Education Professional Development Program
The Drexel Education Alumni Association hosts the first workshop in its Education Professional Development Series on Saturday, September 30, from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Paul Peck Alumni Center.

The two-part workshop will include a morning session on Classroom Management followed by an afternoon session on networking for educators.  All alumni are welcome to attend.  Act 48 hours will be provided.
