Drexel University Hurricane Relief Effort: Message from President Papadakis

Drexel is a caring community. It is our tradition to come together in times of tragedy to assist those in need. Drexel joins the nation in expressing sympathy and solidarity with the victims of Hurricane Katrina and its aftermath. The University, including the College of Medicine, will do everything possible to help students who were impacted by Hurricane Katrina continue their education.

Drexel will aim to accommodate not only students who are scheduled to begin their college careers as freshmen this fall and those applying for admission in 2006, but also students already pursuing degrees at universities in areas affected by the hurricane. This effort is being led by Provost Stephen Director and Vice President of Enrollment Management Joan McDonald.

The University will also match monetary donations made by employees to relief efforts. Personal checks can be made payable to Drexel University or the Drexel University College of Medicine with "American Red Cross," "Salvation Army" or "AmeriCares" indicated on the memo line.

The rules are simple, there must be two teams of two, the rooms must be at least 12' X12' and the houses have to be within a fifteen minute drive of each other. If interested, email dmcguigan@banyan.com for an application. All applications must be submitted by Monday, September 26, 2005.
