The Community Alumni Network at Drexel University (CAN DU), in partnership with Drexel's Office of Government and Community Relations, invites alumni, students, faculty, staff and friends for a day of service at Morton McMichael Elementary School in West Philadelphia on Saturday, October 24, 2009. Volunteers will work together to revitalize the teachers' garden, pre-k and kindergarten playground, and the library.
Can't make it, or want to do more? We are holding a drive for school supplies, such as crayons, markers and notebooks, as well as recreational equipment, including footballs, jump ropes and soccer balls. Donations can be made the day of the project, at any Drexel University alumni event, placed in donation boxes located around campus, or even ordered online and shipped directly to the project site.

Each year the Drexel University Alumni Association Board of Governors recognizes alumni for outstanding achievements in their professions, in the community, and within the university. We encourage all members of the alumni and university community to participate in the awards process by sharing the achievements of fellow alumni, colleagues and friends with the committee for nomination. Kathy is taking her love for dogsleding to the next level and has decided to compete in the 2010 Iditarod. The Iditarod, known by many as “The Last Great Race on Earth” is the longest dogsled race in the United States, stretching from Anchorage to Nome, Alaska. Mushers from all over the world come out to compete in this race each year, however its hazardous conditions and rough terrain keep many from actually crossing the finish line. More

Drexel has again made the “up-and-coming” short list of national universities that have achieved “the most promising and innovative changes in academics, faculty, students, campus, or facilities,” according to top college officials polled by U.S.News & World Report for the 2010 edition of “America’s Best Colleges.” Drexel was ranked fourth out of only 19 universities in the country on the list, according to the recently released rankings.
