Annual Alumni Turkey Project
Help the Office of Alumni Relations continue the tradition and sponsorship of our Holiday Turkey Project. For over 30 years the Alumni Association has organized this event to give back to University neighborhoods. Last year, a record 2,068 turkeys were distributed to families. This means that many families were able to enjoy a festive holiday meal because of the generosity of alumni, friends, students, faculty, and staff.
The need is greater than ever this year, with requests for over 2,000 turkeys, and we ask for your support. A donation of $30 will help 2-3 families or a donation of $50 will help 4-5 families. Please take time now to support this worthy cause.
Click here to make your gift online. (Enter 6T1 under 'Special Instructions' OR 6T2 for Drexel University College of Medicine). Thank you!
Turkey distribution will be held on Thursday, December 15 at 8 a.m. on Market Street, between 32nd & 33rd Streets. We welcome your help! If you would like to volunteer, please call the Office of Alumni Relations at 1.888.DU.GRADS.

Fall Greek Update
The fall term in the fraternity/sorority community has been an active one with fun events both past and upcoming. Recruitment activities have been a major focus for students. Panhellenic offered bids to 62 new members among five sorority chapters on October 15. The IFC distributed bids on October 26 and the BIG-C members are holding reruitment events as well.
On November 5,
Greeks showed support for their community by taking part in the annual fall service project, The Powelton Village Civic Association Clean Up.
As Drexel’s fraternity/sorority community continues to strengthen and improve, more of our chapters and members are being recognized, at the national level, for being the best among their peers. A full listing of award winners can be found, along with additional information about Greek life, by visiting www.drexel.edu/studentlife/fsl.
Groundbreaking for College of Law
On Tuesday, November 15, Drexel broke ground for a four-story, 50,000-square-foot building which will house the College of Law on Market Street between 33rd and 34th streets. The building will contain classrooms, faculty offices, administrative suites, a library with study areas, and a student lounge. It's features will include a reception area that opens into a lobby atrium and a glass wall that provides views of the main lobby. Opening with its inaugural class in August 2006, the College of Law will give Greater Philadelphia its first new law school in 30 years. To distinguish it, Drexel’s College of Law will highlight cooperative education and technology and specialize in intellectual property, health care, and entrepreneurial business law. For more information, call 215.895.2138.
Dragon Run Revs Up Holiday Toy Drive
The fourth Dragon Run kicked off Drexel's Ninth Annual Holiday Toy Drive on November 13. The motorcycle run has been held every year since 2002, when local motorcyclists first came to Drexel in response to the news that toys had been stolen from the Center City Hahnemann Campus collection boxes.
The Toy Drive will be held November 21 - December 16 to benefit children in need primarily in West and North Philadelphia. Collection boxes will be on all Drexel campuses so that students, faculty, staff, and alumni can donate new toys, preferably wrapped and tagged for age and gender. Toys will also be collected at all alumni events within Pennsylvania. The toy drive will conclude with a distribution ceremony in the Great Court on December 20. For information on the Dragon Run and the Holiday Toy Drive, contact the Office of Government and Community Relations at 215.762.8120.
CoMAD Named in Honor of Antoinette Westphal '59, Hon. '02
Drexelink - On Friday, November 11, The College of Media Arts & Design was dedicated in honor of late Antoinette Westphal '59, Hon. '02 (pictured left). The naming was made at the request of her husband Ray Westphal '59, Hon. '02, a former Drexel trustee and benefactor of the college.
Antoinette Westphal, who died in November 2004 from breast cancer, was a fashion design major, and according to her husband, "had passion for the University's fashion program and historic costume collection." As a Drexel student, Mrs. Westphal captained the field hockey and lacrosse teams, was a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority, president of the Panhellenic Council, and Court Jester, The Triangle's anonymous gossip columnist.
